I’ve never skied or snowboarded, where do I start?
Skiers:
For people over the age of 8 years old, we have a few options. If you aren’t sure if you want to pursue skiing, we have taster lessons which is an ‘introduction’ into skiing. This won’t make you a competent skier, but it’ll give you an insight into the sport.
We also have ski courses and privates which are there to teach you how to competently descend from the top of our slope.
For people under the age of 8 years old, we recommend either Puffin or Penguin lessons.
Snowboarders:
For people over the age of 8 years old, we would recommend booking in with the ‘Introduction to Snowboarding’ session which we tend to run on weekends.
Will I be able to ski on my own after a taster lesson?
The short answer is no. A taster lesson is designed to give someone an idea of skiing. These lessons consist of learning how to put ski boots on, learning about the ski and then approximately 15/20 minutes of actual ski time.
Yes, all our lessons and open practice sessions include skis, boots, helmet, and ski poles in the price. You are responsible for bringing your own clothing and gloves!
Yes you can, but bear in mind that waxed skis/snowboard do not run well on our surface. Wax doesn't work effectively on dry ski slopes primarily because the surface of dry slopes is typically made of artificial materials such as plastic or polymer, rather than snow or ice. These materials don't provide the same texture or lubrication that natural snow or ice does.
If you have ski clothes, you are more than welcome to use those. Alternatively, we recommend comfortable loose-fitting clothing with waterproofs and a spare change of clothes. Our slope is wet so if you fall over, you will get wet. All skin must be covered when skiing.
If for any reason you do not wish to re-schedule you will only be refund 50% of the original booking. If a cancellation is made within 7 days of the scheduled lesson date no refund will be given.
Moving a lesson will cost £10 per lesson every time it is move. If you do not attend at the correct time for your lesson your payment is forfeited.
Can I be on the slope while my child is having a lesson or on open practice?
If you are not skiing or snowboarding, you are typically not allowed to be on the slope. There are certain situations where parents are allowed, in which case you would be required to wear a helmet and a high vis which will be supplied by us.
People who participate in our lessons or open practice need to be here 30 minutes before the session starts. This allows us to sign you in and get your kit sorted. As an example, if your lesson starts at 11:00AM, you are expected to arrive at 10:30AM.
Yes, there needs to be at least one 18-year-old who is willing to take responsibility. The adult is required to sign them in on arrival and they need to stay on site.
You would need to arrange membership at our site in person. The cost is £60pp per 28 days and that allows you to come and open practice whenever we are open and don’t have large bookings. This also includes the use of our skis, boots, helmets, and poles.
