Puffin Pathway to Skiing – 3–4 Years Old

Our Puffin Pathway to Skiing gently introduces young children (ages 3–4) to skiing in three calm, confidence-building stages. Everything is taught at a relaxed pace with plenty of encouragement and fun woven in — no pressure, no rushing, just a positive early start to skiing.

Step 1: Getting Used to the Gear

30 minutes – £15 (1:1 session)

This is the ideal first step for little ones who have never worn ski boots or helmets before. The entire session is spent indoors and/or at ground level, helping your child become familiar with the equipment in a calm, playful environment.

What happens in this session:
• Trying on ski boots, helmet and gloves
• Moving around indoors to get used to the weight and feel of the kit
• Optional gentle tubing while wearing the gear to help them understand how it feels to slide

Children do not go on the slope with skis during this stage.

Some children take to the equipment quickly, and others need a little longer — both are completely normal. Parents are welcome to book this introductory session as many times as their child needs until they feel settled and confident.

Step 2: Discovering Sliding

£30 per 30-minute 1:1 session

Once your child is comfortable in the equipment, they begin to explore movement on the slope. This is a simple, joyful introduction to sliding.

This stage includes:
• Straight runs on skis
• Repetition to build confidence, with fun games such as Catch the Glove and Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
• A playful, supportive approach from the instructor

This is still very gentle — just enough to let them feel the magic of moving on the surface.

Parents may be required to help their Puffin back up the slope.

Parents are welcome to book this session as many times as their child needs until they feel settled and confident.

Step 3: Beginning Early Ski Skills

£30 per 30-minute 1:1 session

This step mirrors our Penguin lessons but delivered at a slower, age-appropriate pace.

This stage includes:
• Early balance and movement skills
• Building towards snowplough
• Building towards snowplough stops
• Building towards snowplough turns
• Learning at a pace that suits them

Every child progresses differently. The instructor will teach your Puffin at the pace that is right for them.

Parents may be required to assist their Puffin on the slope.

Parents are welcome to book this session as many times as their child needs until they feel settled and confident.

Rules & Considerations For Puffin Lessons:

• You must arrive 30 minutes before the lesson start time.
• All bare skin must be covered.
• Gloves must be worn.
• Everyone must wear a helmet whilst on the slope.
• All facial pierced jewellery must be removed before using the slope.
• No instruction other than with our own registered instructors is allowed.
• Helmets, boots and skis/snowboards are included in the price.
