Family ski lessons provide the opportunity for adults to learn alongside younger children aged 7–9 in a shared private session.
This option is designed for families who would prefer to learn together, rather than taking part in separate lessons.
If your group is larger than 4, or includes children aged 6, please contact us before booking so we can advise.
The lesson is delivered as a single group, with all participants learning together.
The session will always be taught at the level of the least experienced participant, meaning everyone progresses at the same pace.
This can work particularly well when all participants are beginners, as families often support and encourage each other throughout the session.
Family lessons are different from age-specific sessions and are not always the most effective way for children to learn.
Children aged 7–9 will often progress more quickly and confidently in Penguin lessons, which are designed specifically for their age group.
Family lessons are best suited to those who:
If participants have mixed abilities, progress may be slower, as the lesson will always be based around the least experienced member of the group.
Please arrive 30 minutes before your lesson time to allow for sign-in and equipment fitting.
Ski and boot fitting takes place before the lesson begins and is not included within the lesson time.
The 1-hour lesson refers to on-slope instruction only.
Participants should wear suitable clothing, including long sleeves, long trousers, and gloves.
Standard ski gloves are not recommended, as they can become very hot and uncomfortable in typical UK conditions.
Helmets and boots are provided, but you are welcome to use your own if preferred.
The slope is mist-lubricated, so participants may get wet. A change of clothes is recommended.
Family lessons are a great choice for families who want to share the experience of learning to ski together.
However, for children aged 7–9 who are new to skiing, Penguin lessons are generally the most effective way to learn and progress.
If you are unsure which option is best, please get in touch and we will be happy to advise.
